Born in a converted chicken house in West Townshend, Gene Morrison, a native Vermonter, joined locals to create twelve original songs on “Looking Back”. Devoted to his roots and true to heart, Gene’s lyrics reflect a spiritual resolution and a hardscrabble life. At fifteen, convinced he knew everything, Morrison quit school and went to work in a local sawmill for the princely sum of $1.25 per hour. “A local judge ‘recommended’ that I see the world, so at seventeen, I joined the Navy.”
Morrison traversed the continents, traveled with colorful characters, and put well earned plumage in many hats including: cash strapped logger, boat builder, natural food entrepreneur, commercial fisherman, junk yard car cutter and carpenter extraordinaire. Gene performs with a humble shyness of spirit juxtaposed by a smiling guttural laugh that expresses his love of music and his honor in sharing it with others. ~N.J. Henry
